Working on my "Normal Procedures" for my RV-9 / Aerosport IO-320 / AFP Injection.

Would any of you like to share your startup procedure if you're flying the AFP Fuel Injection system. Is this about right ?

- Mixture full rich
- HP fuel pump on
- Throttle wide - wait 3-5 secs
- Throttle 1/4" open
- Start
- HP fuel pump off

Appreciate your comments ...

I generally turn the boost pump on for about 5 seconds then shut it off. Otherwise, your procedure looks okay for a cold start.

Now hot starts are another deal. There was a thread here about a month ago on various hot start procedures. It generally depends if you have the purge valve installed or not. You might want to do a search for that thread.

AP Starting

Looks good, however, if you have a purge valve and used it at shut down, I've found that priming for up to ten seconds is called for.

Starting with AFP - no purge valve

Cold
- Mixture full rich
- Throttle wide open
- HP fuel pump on until pressure passes 25psi
- HP fuel pump off
- Throttle 1/4" open
- Start

Hot
- Same except you flood the engine so:
- Throttle wide open
- HP fuel pump on until pressure passes 20psi
- HP fuel pump off
- engine will be slightly flooded so Mixture to idle cut off
-Throttle wide open
- Crank until it catches
- Pull throttle back and mixture in
