I am working on the avionics in my 8 currently. I am planning on an ICOM A210 for communication. This radio has an intergral intercom built in. I was wondering what the forum feeling was on use of the intergral system verse's a stand alone intercom such as the PS Engineering series. All my previous aircraft have had a stand alone type system. Comments please......
 
Hi Burke...

We used an ATR-500 VHF largely because of it's built in, voice activated intercom. It is great, and never had any regrets about not fitting an additional "box" / wiring / panel space / complexity / failure modes / cost.

Is the A210 i/c voice activated?

I bought an IC A-200. The people I talked to spoke highly of the radio but not so much of the intercom.

Sorry that I don't remember the specifics. I think I would do plenty of homework before I messed with the intercom. It would be a pain to change.
