I'm New Here
Hi

Anyone here who know how I easily can find out how much a 10" longer nose (i.e. moving prop 10" fwd) impact longitudinal and directional stability of a SEP airplane? Say a RV-10.

Thanks

An older copy of "Airplane Performance, Stability and Control," by Perkins and Hage, contains an excellent and easy-to-use section that includes this sort of thing.

You'll need to assess the characteristics of the existing plane and compare those to the revised plane. In general, what you're describing will reduce the stability of the airplane, especially at higher power settings.

Thanks a lot for the ideas. I will check homebuiltairplanes forum. And I ordered the book, $5 on Amazon.

Thanks! :)
