Vans Page 32-14 calls for securing the control sticks 10 aft of the lower instrument panel while adjusting cables. It this considered to be the neutral position for the sticks? ie level flight. Where would the leading edge of the stabilator be in relation to the horizontal rivet line down the center of the fuselage in level flight? Many Thanks to All who have shared their expertise with me. I never really understood the reason of the 10" position. Only reason I can see is that with the 10" position you can reach and adjust the turnbuckles quite easily, thereafter you adjust both cables in relation to the stick and elevator stops.
Don't think too much about the stabilizer positions. If you follow the PAP the stabilizer and trim will be correct.
With the setting in the picture and 10USG fuel the plane flew hands off.
