Has anyone used one of the Spaceage Control heated pitot probes? Looks like a reasonably low current way of getting a heated pitot, any experiences would be useful.

I have one on my EVO and it works as advertised. It is very small and most certainly has less drag then larger units. Current draw low as well.

That pitot is meant to be mounted standing on top of a surface, not hanging below a surface (drain hole location).
So not appropriate for mounting below the wing on a RV.

This link will show many different "dash numbers" of probes with drain hole at different positions, some suitable for under-wing mounting, plus a straight probe.

Yes. And Aircraft Spruce sells dash numbers 01 through 04.

If you want to have the other dash numbers, you're out of luck getting them (cheaply) from aircraft spruce. Aero Instruments (which bought the pitot-static part of Space Age Control earlier this year) wants $800+ for probes similar to those offered by aircraft spruce with freely choosable drain hole location.

Ask me how I know. ;-)
