A question about the sliding canopy and the F6112 (just aft of canopy) skin: it seems from the RV-6 plans that there is a *lot* of overlap between the F-6112 and the C-666 aft canopy skirt. The F-6112 seems to extend several inches in front of the F-6111. Now, I wouldn't really care --- except I'm thinking of the tip/slider modification. It seems that the front edge of the F-6112 is free-standing, could get dinged, in the way etc. as you try to load baggage.

What's up here? Why does there need to be so much overlap?

Hmmm..

Never really thought of it. Not sure what purpose the overhang serves beyond providing structure under the rear canopy skirt. I doubt it carries any significant structural load (I know, trim it and you will flutter, fold your wings and die).

It does slightly get in the way when loading stuff, but it is really not a big deal. You can only trim it back so far anyway beneath the rear canopy skirt.

Non issue - build on.
