After my SL40 in my -12 finally gave up, I removed it and the flightcom 403mc intercom, and replaced it with a Garmin GTR200 com radio. Installation was essentially plug & play with the Vans wiring harness wh-00100.
Still working through all the settings, but it is working great. Intercom is much improved over the flightcom 403.
I opened up the sl40 looking for obvious clues as to its demise, and found nothing obviously burnt or overheated.
If anyone is interested in the radio or the intercom, I will accept offers. Radio comes with tray. Intercom was working fine when removed.
