Quick question:

Can the Skyview display be configured to show only the total fuel on board as a direct input, then count down via the totalizer? In other words, no input via floats or capacitance sensors in the tanks themselves? Or another way to look at it is if you have a "Cub type" airplane with direct reading sight tubes in the wing tanks, but still wanted to see a single total fuel remaining value on the display?

Reading through the Skyview manual does not seem to answer this question.

Thanks

fuel flow indicator

The 'widget' generated by the fuel flow transducer shows total fuel as measured by flow past the sensor... you push a button to add fuel to the count for full, or twist the dial to select a specific quantity.

It's as Steve says, and the answer to your question is yes. The two fuel systems are independent. SkyView will display the fuel tank quantity(ies) as measured by the resistive or capacitive sensors. And then independently use a total you give it when adding fuel, and subtract from that what the fuel flow sensor reads. Calculations such as fuel remaining to waypoint, fuel remaining at final destination, fuel used, etc. is based on the fuel flow sensor. The two systems are separate, and you can use either or both as you wish.
