The title pretty much says it all.

Using the details from multiple threads here on VAF and elsewhere, I created a simple and robust essential bus that has a backup battery source which charges off the primary source when available.

The most asked questions are the values for the components. I build two of these: the first used a 2 ohm 20 watt resistor while the second used a 4.7 ohm resistor. I prefer the first but the second has less stress and is what I would build if I were to make a small batch of these with the surplus parts I have. (I have enough parts for 5 or 6 of these units). The Schottky diodes are rated at 30 amps (15 amps per leg).

The way I installed this is to have a 10 amp fuse (or breaker) on the input side for each of the main and backup feeds. The output goes directly to the essential bus.

Great design Humpty.

Can you share the part number for the Diodes and the resistors? (and where did you get them from)?

Also does it makes sense to lay this out on PCB?
