Finally built a stand and ready to assemble the engine. I am not having any luck finding a source for silk thread that is not a huge roll.

Did anyone buy a huge roll and is willing to sell enough to do 1 engine?

Send me your address in PM... pretty sure I still have the big roll somewhere around.. it may be at the airport, but I should go out there sometime this week..

I also went to the local fabric store. Many color choices but I bought white thread.

The silk thread is an old school way to reduce oil leaking past the engine case split. It forms a very thin (it smashes down to almost nothing) dam when placed along the case split. Lycoming has approved the use of other newer age methods and materials in order to eliminate the use of silk thread all together.

Ohhhhhh. Cool. Thanks.
