The 9 row Niagara oil cooler mounted to my cooling shroud on my RV-8 equipped with a IO-360 is causing problems. The cooler is mounted too high causing it to rub the inside cowl while the engine runs. The aluminum baffle supporting the cooler is developing cracks despite reinforcement. I have a plenum. My oil temps are satisfactory except during prolonged aggressive climbs in hot conditions. A little more margin would be good. No issues with CHT's.
While doing research on remedies, I spoke with a gentleman at Airflow Systems who told me he was working with the folks at Show Planes on an oil cooler solution for the RV-8. I am expecting an email from him within a day or two with additional information.

Here are some pics I found of what appears to be the Show Planes RV-8 solution on Google:

I realize the design is intended for an angle valve Lycoming but I think it will work with a parallel valve engine.
At my fabrication skill level this looks like a pretty neat offering. I can't really see any downside but I'm not as experienced as most. I've read nearly every thread concerning oil coolers and mounting solutions. There are a few systems I've seen that I really like. Those are from DanH and Bubblehead.
Does anyone have direct experience using the Show Planes RV-8 cooler?
Any thoughts or observations you can share about a solution like this for a parallel valve engine?
Your comments are sincerely appreciated.
Thank you
