The latest Section 37 fuel tank plans update (12/27/13) notes that the blobs of tank sealant (chads) that can form on the rivet shop heads should be removed. Easy enough if you still have access to the interior of the tank, but not so easy otherwise. Has anyone experienced any problems with these bit of sealant becoming detached? The plans revision page talks about `addressing the issue of dangling chads'. What issue?

I made a practice of schmootzing (new word) my leftover proseal over the shop heads.

Can't hurt!

Imaginary problem... Solved!

Hanging chads

We did our condition inspection last month and I gave our fuel tank a little shake after it was removed from the plane. Heard something rattling around inside and I managed to shake 5 chads out of the tank. They looked like very small gray Hershey Kisses. Does the pro seal float in the fuel if it comes out of the rivet head?
