Hi all-

Have fabricated blue foam inserts to close off the cowl ramps on the sides. Was wondering what people use to seal the foam? Straigt epoxy? Mixed with microballoons or flox?

All help appreciated. Thanks.

I didn't bother with foam to seal off the cowl ramps. I just layed up two layers of fiberglass to make a sheet and laid that sheet onto the ramp and cowl. After the glass dried it looked like it was meant to be that way. Been fine for 200 hrs - super low effort.

2 layers of glass

I used the tan foam, for a the same purpose. Sanded to fit the hole and secured with epoxy and micro filler. After curing, I laid in 2 layers of 8 oz cloth and feathered in for a nice look.

The foam gives the glass something to lay on making the job a little easier.

Foarm for support

I used foam for support. Cut to fit and set in place. A dab of superglue to keep if from shifting and then 2 layers of cloth. A wee bit (ok a lot) of sanding and it was done.
