I received this in a message from Pat Purcell concerning the small number of RVs entered in the Grace Flight Air Race at Sherman Texas on October 4, 2008. Pat has organized three races this year and goes the extra mile to make it a worth while event every time. She contacts FBOs and other businesses to sponsor awards and prizes where most of us folks that fly do it quite often just to get Sport Air Race League (SARL) (www.sportairrace.org) points but she says she is giving away avgas in some form of prize. That's a big deal these days. This race is described and enteries can be made at the SARL website under "Calendar of Events". Unfortunately I will be in China during this race but you folks that raced with me in the Texoma 100 (Dave Christman, Damon Berry, Winn Harris, Chris Murphy Charlie Heathco and Mike Thompson will be familiar with the airport. I'm told that they have chosen the departure airport as the start line instead of the hard to find grass strip used for the earlier race.

How do we get more RV's for Grace Flight. Entries really slow coming in...had all sorts of interest early on and now no one will get in gear and sign up. Jim Robinson from Utah with his Glasair III emailed me and said he was coming but has not signed up officially yet.
I have such a nice event planned....FBO will be great and they are cooking special lunch for all...I have a different type route...a big square...try to make things interesting for you....not doing the same thing twice. Have some nice awards also and a decent amount of free gas to give out for prizes or whatever. Looking forward to a nice time for all. Just need the old weather to cooperate. Having CAVU now...National Aerobatics are on here this week...they are more than happy with this weather.

TURBINE
Any Experimental Category aircraft with a turbine engine, unlimited SHP (Shaft Horse Power). Class winners in both Fixed and Retractable gear.
UNLIMITED
Any Experimental Category aircraft with a turbo/super-charged (any forced-induction) engine with a displacement of 1400 cubic inches or less. Class winners in both Fixed and Retractable gear.
SPORT CLASS
Any Experimental Category aircraft with a normally aspirated engine with a displacement of 1000 cubic inches or less.
SPORT FX
Any Experimental Category aircraft with 550 cubic inch displacement normally aspirated with Fixed Landing Gear for RV-10s, F-1 Rocket, Harmon Rocket II etc.
Biplane Unlimited
Any aircraft having two main lifting wings, to include a tandem configuration, factory or experimental, with an engine displacement of 1400 cubic inches or less and can be turbo/super-charged (any forced-induction).
Biplane Sport
Any aircraft having two main lifting wings, to include a tandem configuration, factory or experimental, using a normally aspirated engine with a displacement of 1000 cubic inches or less.
Biplane Blue
Any aircraft having two main lifting wings, to include a tandem configuration, factory or experimental, with an engine displacement of 360 cubic inches or less, normally aspirated.
Biplane Red

Free AV gas

Come on guys,possible free av gas if you race. Only one airplane in the RV-Red class. Surely some of you Texas boys and girls could make it to the race in Sherman (KGYI).
