What does your fuel selector look like, can you post a pic? "Standard" brass valve supplied by Vans and installed per plans has one "off" position and "on" for left and "on" for right positions. Valve passes through "off" when switching from left to right. The builder might have chosen to install it another way, that can happen.
There are alternative aftermarket valves e.g. by Andair that have positive action required to select off.
Mine isn’t the standard Vans brass valve, I’ll try to the out to the hanger and forward a picture. I’m not as concerned about myself as much as others that may fly it.
I checked out the Andair, really nice. Probably go that route at the next inspection.
I’m new to the RV6 and there is a lot of things to take in at once. My fuel select-shutoff valve has two off positions. Is this a “standard” valve for the 6? I don’t like the two off positions and it also doesn’t have a lockout for off.
Plan ahead
The Andair valve won’t be a direct replacement for your current valve.
You will probably have to remake all of the fuel lines that connect at the valve.
The statement standard valve needs to be more specific, because there are two different valves that have been supplied through the history of the RV-6 kit
The earlier valve is the one with the brass valve cone. It has a single off position.
The later supplied valve, which is the one that has been supplied in a lot of the other kits as well , has a plastic valve cone, and it does have two off positions.
