I'm New Here
I am building a thatcher cx4. The thatcher has a known issue of not producing enough angle of attack on the ground to lift of near stall speed and lands slightly higher than stall speed due to the relatively flat angle that the airplane sits on the ground. I am considering changing the tailwheel leaf spring to something similar to and rv. The plans call for a tailwheel leaf spring that comes aft of the tailcone the comes down. The rv style would lower the tail around 3 inches and I believe create the needed angle of attack to solve this minor problem. Does anyone have any photos of the assembly that I could look at and figure out what I can do? Thanks!

Brandon,

We've had one (that we know of, maybe more?) put our tailwheel system on the thatcher CX4 for the exact reasons you describe.

The Van's unit will drop the tail a bit more, but the obstacle clearance suffers.

Drop me an email if you like.
