I especially liked the quote from the guy who said he wanted to own 18 airplanes... I had to send that along to my wife, along with a note saying "see, it's not just me!" ;)

Good checklist addition

That was also an interesting note at the end about finding puddles of oil in the run up area when investigating engine failures on take off. Taking a look at the area where you did your run up to make sure nothing leaked out before you pour on the coals seems like a good idea.
 
I have a friend who is getting his rotary wing liscense. He said that is one of their pre-flight items....but they look for bolts and parts too. :eek:

Thanks for the note Martin. The Post aviation reporter recently transferred from the metro beat and had a total of 4 hours when we flew to W.VA for lunch. He works hard on the accuracy of his stories and has been doing very well on his aviation reporting. Regards, John.
