On the QB 9A. Installing the fuel guage sender unit and sealing with the gasket and plate, ( Pro-Seal) could you share your pictures of the process. I have heard in the forum about raised paint on screws of the tank caused by fuel vapors and that some of you builders have a remedy for it. Appreciate your help.

Hi Ron,

Are you almost ready to fly? I threw away gaskets on cover and sender and only used Proseal. I think that was a recommendation from Joe at Vans. Just don't over tighten the screws and squeeze it all out before it sets up. It held for two years on mine now with no issues.

I'm not sure what you meant by tank screws and vapors. If you were talking about screws that connect tank to wings I'd suggest not painting them. I just used stainless torx screws there. I've had to remove both tanks since painting and it would have been a mess if they were painted.

Hope to see you in the air soon. I met your hanger partner last month when at Salem for lunch.
