Just got the bad news from Van's that my wing kit is delayed 6-8 weeks due to an error made by the spar supplier. I guess Van's sent the supplier a bunch of material to fab RV-7 and RV-8 spars, but they made a bunch of -7 spars only!

Just a heads up to anyone that's got a wing kit that's due to be delivered soon..

Well, good news for anyone building a -7.

I try to find a silver lining in any bad news.

Odd. I thought the wings on the 7 and 8 were essentially the same...

Looking at the Specs page on Van's website, the span for a 7 is 25' where as the 8 is 24'. The widest cockpit dimension (what is the relation to center section width? I don't know) for the 7 is 43" where as the 8 is 33". Seemingly there is a small difference.

The root end of the rear spar is different. Its trimmed to a different shape. Maybe they make that part now instead of the builder. Other than that I thought they were the same as well.
