RV8 drawing 16a shows the T705 bracket located 2 inches aft of an undefined point???? (See pics). I’m assuming it is from the relief cuts in the flanges but it does not say so (see pics again). How critical is this dimension or will I match the fuselage bracket to the tank bracket and drill in place during assembly.
Thanks
Bob

Bob,
From my -1 fuse instructions ...

RV-8 Only : The open holes in the F-820-L &-R -1 Fwd Side Skins are the bolt hole locations for attaching the F-863-1 Tank Attach Brackets. Center the F-863-1 Tank Attach Brackets on the two open holes in the fwd side skins, then
clamp in place on the T-405 Angles on the fuel tanks. (See drawling 80)
Be sure that the tank brackets fit tightly against the fuselage sides, then
match drill # 12 the two holes in the fuselage into the tank attach brackets.

(The 405 part # will be the same as your 705 part #)

Install the angle as shown in the drawing, not slightly aft as your second photo would seem to indicate. Break all sharp edges by slightly beveling the angle's edge that will "nest" up against the rib flange radius. This angle will eventually be drilled in assembly with the mating angle you will fabricate and install on the fuselage.
