I've seen panel photos of several 8s with the front vent located under the panel to save room, etc. Who has one or has flown with one below the panel ? Get sufficient face air ? Would you recommend against or for that location? Thanks, Bill RV-8a wiring bout done

My Van's vent was there but I did not like the interference with my legs. Direct airflow to my face was not great either. I replaced it with dual Stein air vents in the side panels. They work great and airflow to my face is excellent. They seal really well, unlike the Van's vent.

After 1160 hours with only one vent per Van's design, I'd recommend changing to include one vent at your feet and two serving your upper body.

I'd also add a second vent of some sort for the back seat.
