-8A with 100 hrs. Flies great, but....

Noticed that the engagement pin that rides along the mid-fuselage canopy track to seat in the nylon fitting when closed is wearing a deep groove in the top of the track.

Any words of advice how to eliminate the problem?

Mine isn't flying yet but I filed or sanded a little on the bottom of the pin until I had around 1/16 to 3/32 gap above the rail. It still slides in the plastic block nicely.

Easy fix

There is a slide block (Delrin?) just aft of the engagement pin. That slide block is affixed to the canopy via a clevis pin. If the holes for the clevis pin are not correctly drilled the pin will drag on the slide. Ask me how I know. The "part" number is C-661 - again, ask me how I know that.

Don, it's not that easy of a fix in his case. He is all done and flying. If he re drills his slider block or replaces it there will be a canopy skirt issue. Replacing it with a properly drilled hole would result in a gap at the rear skirt. The only option I see would be the one in my previous post. Forgive me if Im over looking something.
