Hi all Just after some pointers as to where to start with this problem. Our recently purchased rv6 0-320E2C starts well runs very well execpt when you apply carby heat at low power setting generally in the circuit it starts to run a bit rough and the rpm jumps up and down a little soon as carb heat is removed at 300agl it runs smooth again any info or help on this would be appreciated:confused:

Just a little wild speculation...

If the weather is warm there, it might just be running rich with the carb heat on. Plugs might be 'loading up' a bit & when you take the carb heat off, they begin to burn themselves clean.

Carb heat

That's pretty typical with carb heat. The warmer air is less dense creating a rich mixture scenario especially in the pattern with FR mixture as you would have in approach.

Paul,

Sounds like you are having a devil of a time down there in Tasmania. Me thinks the problem is that being in Australia the carb is upside down, thus your float is not working properly. Why don't you remove the float and turn it over, so it thinks it is right side up? ;)
