Our jointly owned RV6 is about to be upgraded with the Dynon AP74 autopilot and it's been noticed that the roll servo bracket, to be attached to the floor between 2 vertical structural components (the proper name of which I don't know), will overlap the longitudinal tab of the one on its left/outboard side while firmly against the one on the right. Presumably it's preferable to place a shim (.040"?) beneath it?

Yep, it will sit on the flange of the seat pan rib. I lofted mine slightly with a shim to avoid that problem. Additionally, I didn't want to drill through the skin to mount it so I attached it to the seat pan ribs.

I think you will find a 0.025 shim to be a more suitable thickness, not including any dimples.

If a rivet gets in the way, either drill a clearance hole in the bracket, or remove the rivet and re-use the hole with a longer rivet to hold the bracket.
