Morning' gang:

A friend is disassembling his RV-4 to repair some right wing damage and asked me whether or not it is acceptable to re-use the spar attach bolts.

What say ye? They were brand new several years ago and this will be the first disassembly.

I would re-use the bolts, but not the nuts.

Unless otherwise damaged or show wear, the bolts and nuts are reusable.
These bolts are in "shear" so the nuts carry no loads. They just hold the bolts in.

Corrosion

My old bolts were scuffed from the original installation, so I opted to replace them to minimize corrosion risk. I'm sure the old ones would have worked, but it's generally a good practice to use new hardware in critical areas.
