I just happened to have an RV-3B horizontal and vertical stabilizer in the shop and a small scale.

The horizontal stabilizer seems to weigh about 6.23 kg or 13.73 pounds. It exceeded the capacity of the scale so I weighed it by first supporting it at the front spar then the rear and adding the readings together.

The vertical stabilizer weighs 2.57 kg or 5.67 pounds.

The total for both is therefore 8.80 kg or 19.4 lbs - it's aluminum, remember, not carbon.

In both cases the holes to attach to the fuselage are undrilled, and there's blue film on the exterior skin except at the rivet lines. The interior is primed with SEM. Neither have tips yet.

Sorry, don't have the rudder or elevators finished yet. The rudder is in progress but not far enough along for an accurate weight.

Hope this helps.
