can someone with a 12 in a warm place help me. i have installed my rudder pedals and need to know max. and min. distance of pilot side left rudder from firewall. this would be on a plane that is rigged.

I had the same question way back when I was designing rudder pedal extensions for my vertically-challenged pilot/wife--the reply I got was:

The rudder pedals are about an 1/8" from the firewall when pushing full left or right. There could be some design reason that the rudder contacts its stops just prior to the pedal travel ending, so that a strong individual could not bend or break something. Adding blocks to the pedals and moving the seat like you suggested are probably the best and only safe ways.

You may want to call Van's and ask. They may have a solution.

In case this question was for the purpose of making some rudder pedal extensions.
Some very light weight and quick to install or remove extensions have been developed at Van's and should be available very soon.
