When replacing brake pads, do you let the pad "float" a little on the backing plate? Or do you "pin it down" with the rivet setter? Found the O ring facing the wrong way today... so pulled everything for fresh pads, 5606 (I hate that stuff) and general clean up.

The pads should be staked down tight, be careful you don't get carried away and crack the pads, but they need to be tight.

I've never used anything but the hammer-powered rivet set, and I normally just get them all started and then go back and do a final set. I just did the brakes on my -6 a few days ago...
