Meeting friends in Mammoth Lakes in October but from riverside their are more "R" and "MOA's" then you can shake a stick at without hitting one or both. They cover both the valleys and mountains. So up Western side and drop down or follow the 395 with detours around areas not friendly to civilians. If western side then best crossover without oxygen. Come on you crazy skiers from SoCal, you know this is the awesume Mountain and I what to fly into to town.:confused:

I just went that route from the San Diego area to Reno for the Air Races.
I flew to Palmdale, then Mohave, then Lone Pine and Bishop. It avoids all of the Restricted air space. Yes, there are MOA's there, but if you stay over Hwy 395 you should be fine.

Just like Bruce says - and contact Joshua Approach if you want to have extra eyes looking for traffic. Those MOA's are fully populated with civilian traffic like yourself - don't think that they are for military use only.
