Just finished the initial bond of my slider frame to canopy. It's been curing for two days and I"m ready to remove the spacers and apply a nice fillet over all the initial work. I'm thinking my options are...

1. apply second coat of sikaflex over the first without priming
2. reprime over the first coat of primer but not over the sikaflex
3. 2nd coat of primer over the primer and sikaflex

Sika instructions for 209-D primer 10min - 24hr max

There has been quite a bit of discussion on this in the past, from what I have taken from it I would say do not reprime. The duration of the Primer that Sika Gives is recommended to ensure the primer stays clean. As long as there is no dust or dirt built up on the primer The second round of Sikaflex will go on without a problem. The reason I say not to prime over the pre existing Sika would be the primer dries hard however the Sika is still plyable when dry, if you put hard primer on a plyable surface it will indeed crack.

When I glued my canopy i Primed everything at once, put the first fillet of Sika on and then let it cure for 48 hours, removed the clamps and put another fillet of Sika in to close out the gaps and make a nice final fillet. (Spit and a finger do a great job).
