So... what's the consensus on de-burring the tank skins?

You know how you have to struggle to get the tank skins clecoed together? Well, mine have some pretty good scratches as a result. Given that the skins will not be primed and that removing the scratches will also remove the alclad, should we debur this area at all?

id just scothbrite and spot prime with a rattle can primer... when its time to paint, it wipes off with thinner or MEK.

SteelMike,

I assume you're refering to the inside of the skins getting scratched up from the ribs being slid in and out of position.

When it comes time to proseal and rivet, you'll have hit those fay seal areas heavy with scotch brite to really roughen them up. This will take the scatches out and give the proseal something to bite on to.

daniel - sorry. wrong side of the skin.

cln1 - good point. They're going to end up right under the proseal, aren't they? And yes, they're scratches on the inside of the skin left over from wrestling the ribs into place etc.

oh, then what he said! Scotchbrite them until smooth.
