I thought the polish I used on my plane had no silicone in it, but it turns out it does. I am hoping to paint my plane soon and am wondering how to best remove all traces of the silicone from the skin. I polished the upper surfaces of the entire plane. Yikes!

Anyone have a clue?

Go to your Automotive paint store and inquire. I purchased a grease and silicone remover that worked great for me. Larry

Alumiprep 33 will work wonders.

Etch and alodine the areas you intend to paint.

PPG DX-330. Excellent wax and grease remover. Wipe on very wet. Wipe dry. Done.
