I have a still somewhat new-to-me RV9-A that has an old VOR nav antenna that is no longer needed on this aircraft. First, is this difficult to remove and secondly, what is the recommended method to fill the open space left once removed so weather and bugs don't get in?

Removal looks easy enough with a Phillips head screwdriver; remove the fiberglass tip, remove antenna. For the antenna coax cable I’d cut off the BNC connector then reverse snake it out through the tail cone. To fill the gap, find an RV builder buddy that can show you the joys of fiberglass! But really, that’d be an easy patch job with some epoxy, glass cloth and some sanding work.
