I have 2 100w heaters glued to the sump and a 25w unit glued to the oil cooler.

Plugged it in late yesterday afternoon and this morning the oil temp was 102F and CHT's were 75F. OAT was 31F.

Considering that the oil temp sensor is way up north (top of the accessory case) this is most satisfactory.

The cylinder bands are not needed unless it gets much, much colder and if that happens I won't be flying anyhow. :)

David, Do you have a picture of where you mounted the heater pads on the sump?

Bill,

I'm sorry, I do not.

The pads are located on the aft end of this Superior horizontal cold air sump and are somewhat hidden now that the exhaust pipes are installed.

Standard Lycoming sumps have a flat area somewhere, I am sure.

I does not seem to matter where they go, they work, just needs to be flat.

Good PIREP on the Reiff heater. Bob's a great guy and a fellow "RV" flyer. Also, part of our regular $100 hamburger club.

Put mine in last year. I also included the cylinder bands, however.

Here's where I attached it.

I never claimed to be an artist when attaching the element to the sump.

Thanks Merrill, that is perfect. They are quite a bit smaller than I had expected to see for 100 watt.

Happy New Year!
