Frank,
Was that caused by a kickback? Do you run a Lightspeed Ignition?
necessarily mean it kicked back..In fact the collective thoughts think otherwise..More like a faulty casting or the pin at the front too long for the hole maybe.
Frank 1..Not Frank S..Thats Frank 2, cus he finished his airplane after me..![]()
Be sure to check the alignment pin holes for proper depth.
After the new starter is bolted on, try shinning a light at the back of the mating surface, and look at the front for any gaps.
Good luck.
By any number the Frank's are handsome guys...............
Just ask them.
Frank2 Speaking for Frank1 and all the other Franks......OVER....

Bolted the new SkyTec starter to the case and checked the alignment and fit.
The fit was excellent...both in pin depth and starter surface to engine case surface.
Pulled the plane out of the hanger for a static test...Worked great.
