RE:Acid etch ????

I know I read it in one of the threads...which I can't seem to find now....where a knowledgeable builder explained the problems created when using acid etch to prep for paint. Any help out there in paint land on this ???

IIRC one issue had to do with cleanup. If you don't neutralize and remove all the etching liquid off you'll run the risk of bubbling, etc. as the etch continues to react with the surface after you've painted it. There's also the overhead of that additional step. I would always just use self-etching primer. A bit of surface prep plus cleanup with acetone left a surface that self-etching primer would adhere to very well.
