I have an Icom A210 single radio and am experiencing poor reception quality in some cases, not all. Com with the tower is good and radio checks are all OK but distant unicom transmissions are coming through very loud and harsh, squalky, uncomfortably so. Obvious wiring connections and antenna connections have been checked. Any thoughts?

On a lot of transceivers, the problem can be in the antenna. You probably checked the coax but did you put a new BCN connector on it. Also is the shield grounded on the base of the Antenna really good or has corrosion got in there.

Icom is usually very good radios. I have had them for years as a Ham.

Hope you find the problem. If you call Icom direct. they might tell you to send them the unit free...
