I want to move the C/G Forward on my recently purchased RV-6 buy installing a heaver steel prop extension made by " Saber " manufacturing , my question is , can I have a New Weight and balance calculated by my local IA repair shop and continue to fly , or do I have to send the New weight and balance to my local FAA office notifying them of the change ? P.S. I am Not the Builder of this RV-6.
Regards Joe.

im sure mel will chime in here, but you can install the part, do the new weight and balance and enter the change and the new weight and balance in the log book, no IA or A&P or FAA notification needed.

Like Bob says, you can do it yourself with no notification to the FAA required.

HiFly,
I'm glad you asked this question. My aircraft wrap is almost complete, and I bought an EarthX battery to replace my lead cell Odyssey. That results in basically a weightless wrap.
15 lb Odyssey battery = 12 lb wrap + 3 lb EarthX LiFePO battery

However, the CG will move aft, so I know I'll need to reweigh and compute an updated CG. Your thread answers my paperwork question.

Again, thanks.
