I recently had a push rod tube retainer break, and get beat around by the rocker arms to the point it punched a hole in the rocker box cover. The engine has 27 hours sine major, with new ECI cylinders. The retainers were also from ECI. The ECI retainers measured .010" lighter, and were not tempered like the Lycoming parts I replaced them with appeared to be.
If I were assembling another engine, I would install the Lycoming retainers and file the ECI retainers where I feel they belong. LOGAN
