Installing Van's Plane Power alternator kit on Lycoming IO360 M1B.
Nothing torqued up yet, but it appears the prop line may get pinched between the ridge on the engine casting and the alternator.

Advice?

I probably don't want to use a longer belt/bracket because I will then get interference with the cowling?
I could try to reshape the Lycoming ss oil line to reduce the interference?
Some have run the oil line over the top of the cylinders?

Thanks for any help,

-Tom

I have the same

It is tight for sure. I "adjusted" the tube slightly so it was centered in the gap. I used a malleable interface with an inertial force to reshape the tube. Read: I used a piece of wood and hit it with a 2# hammer. Just once. I just tensioned it recently for the last time - it resulted in .050" clearance on either side of the tube. My Tech Counselor inspected it yesterday and declared it acceptable as the parts won't move more than the gap. It will be watched, and maybe put a spot of RTV on there as a separator. I do have the part number for a 1/2" longer belt, but the max adjustment may not be sufficient.

I used a high-pressure hose instead of the hard steel line, put it where you want it.
