The prop control cable on my RV8 started binding. I removed it during the condition inspection (going on now) and ordered replacement from Van's. I got a message this morning that the cable was back ordered. I'd really rather get the plane back together rather than waiting no telling how long for the Van's cable.

Bottom line: does anyone know an alternate source for a CT Q-67 cable?

Thanks!

Hi Jim

The Vans cables are "Tuthill", now I think "Cablecraft". Many smaller / local companies are able to make up these cables.

I have one labelled 184VTT2-133 - it's a long trim cable - I suspect you are after a 184VTT2-67, but check online for the end codes etc.

It is more usual for the Throttle and Mixture to get cooked and bind than the Prop? If heat is the issue, you will find almost identical cables that are more heatproof, and can also get silver reflective shield applied during manufacture.
