Is it OK to prime the aluminum parts on the firewall.. stiffeners and gussets? Or will the heat from the engine compartment cook the primer off these?

Priming firewall parts is fine. If it gets hot enough to "cook" the primer, then you have much bigger problems.

I am priming most of my aircraft but for most of the interior cabin, I am going "Al Fresco"!

The way I see it, if the plane is flown regularly, (my personal objective) the cockpit should get ventilated often thereby eliminating the humidity from the environment. This means corrosion has no opportunity to form.

For this reason, I am cutting back on priming the interior cockpit area. Not entirely, just cutting back.

Case in point, I didn't prime those aforementioned stiffeners.

Does that help?
