I got a new engine and I had an A&P pickle it. The cylinders are filled with oil, and the oil is leaking out the bottom spark plug holes. The holes are plugged with a red plastic plug but it is leaking (not surprisingly) Is there a better way to plug these holes so that the oil does not leak out? I would rather NOT use my new spark plugs. Thanks in advance!

Leaking

You might want to ask around and see if anyone has any old plugs banging around in a drawer - in aviation, there are a bunch of us who are pack rats and keep a lot of old parts hanging around.

Not sure if long term exposure to the oil would hurt a new plug? Probably not.:D

Just get the adapters and some auto plugs. You might as well since you ARE going to replace those antiquated mags with P-mags. ;)

Congrats on your engine purchase!

You can do what others suggested but when you remove
Those red plugs a bunch of oil is going to come out
Of those holes. Best to leave it alone, put some rags there for the short time
That the engine is sitting and drain it when the time comes to
Run up the engine.
