I am preparing my plane for the paint shop and was wondering how others have covered the rivets holding all the various hinges to the fiberglass parts (cowl, leg fairings, etc). On my rv-8 which was painted about 5 years ago, the paint is starting to crack around these rivets, most likely due to the relative motion of the rivet and fiberglass. All my hinges were prosealed prior to riveting on that plane and this one as well

I was thinking of laying up a layer or two of fiberglass over the rivets, but that is a lot of work. What did others do to avoid the eventual paint cracking?
