Question on rivet size for attaching the F-904H doubler to the F-970 side skins.....

The drawing (drawing 28, zone 9c) calls for using AN470AD4-5 rivets to attach the skins to the doubles, which are pre-riveted together as these rivets would be difficult to reach after attaching the side skins (ref the instructions, page 8-10, near the top). This length of rivet seems to be way too long. There is only the doubler and the skin...why is a -5 rivet called out? Am I missing something? Seems like it should be cut down to a -3 size.

correct call out

Jeff, if I remember correctly the F-904H is 0.063 and the skin is 0.032, so a AN470AD4-5 would indeed be the correct rivet.

You are correct. The rivet sure looked too long, but the math works out for just under a -5 length. I tried squeezing them and they worked just fine.
