was hoping for some advice on the size of rivet squeezer I will need, will 1/8 aluminium be sufficient or will I need one capable of squeezing 3/16. My empennage kit arrives next week and I am looking forward to it.
1/8 size is a no. 4 rivet and the largest size solid rivet van's has you install in the RV8 airframe. Larger sizes are used on the wing spar, but vans provides the spar pre-fabricated. 1/8 capacity hand and pneumatic squeezer will be just fine and is what I have used on my last RV8.
If you have any doubt, check out the squeezer capacity sold by Cleveland or Avery tools. They sell a lot to RV builders.
