Considering installing 1 Pmag to replace a slick. A few questions for the group. 1. Is it worth while to use the drive from an existing non-impulse mag?
2. Is there a kit that comes with everything needed or do I have to order separate components?
3. I currently have a tach pick up from the non-impulse mag. How do I get the tach from the Pmag?
4. Any other advice or suggestions on installation.

Thanks

#3 Tachometer: The Pmags generate a signal 4 pulses per revolution. The signal can be configured as 12 volt or 5 volt. The question is, "What kind of signal does your tachometer require?"

You can use the impulse mag to drive your tach just like the non-impulse mag.

You can use the gear for the P-Mag from your non-impulse mag, or you can buy one from EmagAir. It's obviously cheaper to use the gear you already have.

There is a kit with P-Mag, plug wires and spark plug adapters. That's what I would recommend.

Feel free to contact me off list or via phone to discuss the install. There really isn't that much to it.

P Mag Swap

A year or so ago Kitplanes had a multi-page article about replacing a mag with a Pmag. Think Paul Dye was the author.
