In the places to go and things to do there is very little on the New England area. I am headed to that area this coming weekend for two weeks and would like some idea of sights to see, places to go and where to eat, preferably in smaller towns. I'll be basing out of North Adams, MA (AQW).

Some New England places to visit.

Hi John,

I've broken these up into inland and coastal suggestions.

Inland

Jaffrey, NH - Silver Sky Ranch

(Runway is a bit tired so keep the weight off your nose wheel)

Kimball Farms (next to the airport)
Best Lobster Rolls, Fried Clams and Home made Ice Cream
Quite a few of us fly up to Jaffrey for the ice cream alone.

Northampton Airport
Northampton, Massachusetts, USA

Northampton is a great town for dining and great music year round. The summer is excellent for people watching and excellent little restaurants. A funky favorite of ours is Mimmo's pizza about a block from the Calvin theater. A slice will set you back about two bucks but it takes two plates (side-by-side) to carry the slice.

The Coast and Islands

Block Is, RI

(short walk, bike ride or taxi into town.) Block Island is an absolute gem. Good food at the airport cafe and great beaches all around the island

Newport State Airport, Newport

The airport is up island a ways from Newport itself but there is so much to see and do in the area it is worth considering as a day trip and the coast is beautiful this time of year.

Katama Airpark
Edgartown, Martha's Vineyard, Massachusetts, USA
http://www.airnav.com/airport/1B2
Katama is a grass strip that is a favorite for local pilots. It is out of the Edgartown bustle but an excellent way to see Martha's Vineyard and the islands.

Hope this helps. Enjoy your stay.

Regards,

Jack
