Step two says: See the Rotax Maintenance Manual II, Section 15.1, Ignition Unit, "Gap 7 for trigger coil with clamps."

Where do I find the Rotax Maintenance Manual II? It's not on the CD documentation that came with the power plant and a Google search doesn't turn up anything.

Also, am I correct in assuming there are four trigger coils?

I can't find the PDF version of the manual right now so I'll go by memory.

I believe there are 4 trigger coils sensors. Each have two hex head cap screws that hold them in place. The engine modification instructions only have us removing one of the screws on one of the sensors, so unless you moved the sensor you should be good to go because the other screw held it in place. To double check the gap (I could not find the manual at that time either) I measured the factory gap from one of the other sensors and made sure the sensor I was working on was correct. It had not moved, and the engine runs great.

Hope this helps.

Good luck, sounds like you are getting close.

All RV-12 owners/builders should get familiar with http://www.rotax-owner.com/

Copies of the latest revision level of all documentation is available here as well as instructional/educational videos, Service bulletins/notices, etc.

You can register at Rotax-owners.com and be notified when ever any new document related to your engine is released.

There are 4 trigger coils that are connected to the ign. system and a fifth trigger coil that produces the signal for the tachometer.
