We have very low aspect ratio wings on our RV. Are low A/R wings particularly susceptible to performance degradation in rough air?
I am based in the lee of a line of hills which cause considerable low level turbulence, and notice that whenever the air is rough the speed drops away quite considerably for a given engine/prop set up. I have flown this same area extensively in gliders/sailplanes and never noticed a significant performance degradation.
